Dog Parks in Pigeon Forge: Great Smoky Mountains National Park Dogs are allowed on leashes 6 feet or less in campgrounds, picnic areas, on paved roads, and two walking paths, the Gatlinburg Trail (1.9 miles, beginning at the Sugarland Visitor Center) and the Oconaluftee River Trail (1.5 mile hike near the Oconaluftee Visitor Center). Cades Cove is located 27 miles outside Gatlinburg near Townsend, TN, and it is one of the most beautiful places in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, and here there are historic home sites and rustic churches along with a visitor center and working grist mill, all connected by an 11 mile loop road; pets are allowed to be in the car as you drive around the loop road, but park officials do request that you please refrain from taking them to the historic buildings and inside the mill.
